This is the cold email plan we'd run for a LinkedIn ghostwriting agency that writes posts and articles for founders and partners in one industry. The research is a scroll through their profile. The date of the last post and what they write about tell you nearly all you need.
Your market is every founder and partner in your industry whose name helps sell the work. At a law firm that is the partners. At a software company it is the founder and often the head of product.
The email goes to the person whose profile you would write. That makes it personal by design. These are the signals worth looking for.
Their last LinkedIn post went up months ago. They have a profile and a network and nothing going into it.
Posts that only share company news and hiring updates. Nobody learns anything about how the person thinks.
Podcast appearances on Listen Notes or talks on conference agendas and nothing on LinkedIn. The ideas exist and never get written down.
People who leave long comments on other people's posts clearly like the platform. They just don't post themselves.
A competitor's founder posting good material each week is getting in front of the same buyers.
A fundraise or a new firm or a book on the way. Crunchbase shows the rounds. Visibility matters most right before and after moments like these.
The email goes to the leader directly. At bigger companies copy in the head of marketing or the chief of staff who manages their calendar.
Five LinkedIn posts written from their own talks and interviews and comments in the way they actually talk.
It works because they read their own ideas sounding sharp.
Read them together on a 15 minute call. Leaders are protective of their name and they'll want to change a line or two before anything goes out. That conversation is the first step of doing it every week.
A new headline and about section and featured section for their profile written for the buyers they want to reach.
It works because they see your writing on the thing they care about most.
Walk through it on a screen share next to their current profile. Only they know which clients they want more of and the call is where the rewrite gets aimed at them.
Run a 30 minute interview with them. Write two weeks of posts from it and schedule them once they approve. They pay nothing.
It works because it shows them the whole service. They talk for 30 minutes and the writing happens without them. The retainer is the same thing each week.
The interview is the call. Book it within a week of their reply and have the posts ready for approval within five days of it.
Each segment gets its own email because a specific email gets more replies than a general one. Split each segment by sub-industry too so the examples in the email fit the reader.
Keep each email under 100 words with one reason for writing and one line of proof and one offer and one question. The proof lines are examples of the kind of result to use. Swap in real results of your own before anything goes out.
Lead with the date of their last post and offer the five posts.
Hi {{first_name}},
Your last LinkedIn post went up in {{last_post_month}}. The one before it on {{post_topic}} was good.
We write for {{industry}} leaders. Wrote five posts in your voice from things you've already said in public.
A client we write for went from 900 to 6,200 followers in six months and gets two inbound calls a month from it.
Want me to walk you through them?
{{sender_first_name}}
Lead with the podcast episode and the post it could become. Offer the two weeks free.
Hi {{first_name}},
Listened to you on {{podcast_name}}. The part about {{topic}} would make a strong LinkedIn post.
Happy to write your next two weeks of posts free from one 30 minute call. You'd approve each one before it goes out.
The first two weeks we wrote for a client got more comments than its whole previous year of posts.
Interested?

Lead with one of their announcements and the story buried in it. Offer the rewrite and the profile.
Hi {{first_name}},
Your last few LinkedIn posts are company announcements. The one about {{announcement_topic}} had a real story buried in it.
Rewrote it as a post people would stop for and redid your profile headline to match.
A client who made the same switch booked four sales calls from LinkedIn in the first month.
Want me to walk you through both?
{{sender_first_name}}
Lead with the round and ask for a call directly.
Hi {{first_name}},
Saw {{company}} raised a {{round_type}}. Buyers and future hires will look you up on LinkedIn this quarter.
We write LinkedIn posts for {{industry}} leaders from 30 minutes of talking a week. A founder we started with after a raise had three candidates mention the posts in interviews within two months.
Worth 15 minutes to see what we'd post first?
{{sender_first_name}}
Send two follow ups in the same thread three to five days apart.
Each reply should end in a booked meeting that actually happens. The lead magnet and the offer get delivered on that call and never go out as a file to read later.
The replies below cover the three ways people say yes.
They asked for the posts. The call is where the posts start sounding like them.
Hi {{first_name}},
Happy to. It's your name on them so I'd rather go through the five together and fix any line that doesn't sound like you. Fifteen minutes is enough.
Does Tuesday at 10am or Wednesday at 2pm work?
{{sender_first_name}}
They want the two weeks free. The interview is the call.
Hi {{first_name}},
Great. The posts come from a 30 minute interview so all I need is that half hour with you. The first two weeks are ready for your approval within five days of it.
Does Thursday at 11am or Friday at 3pm work?
{{sender_first_name}}
They said yes to a call. Tell them what they'll leave with so they show up.
Hi {{first_name}},
Perfect. I'll bring the first ten posts I'd write for you and who they're meant to reach. You'll leave with a posting plan even if you write them yourself.
Does Monday at 1pm or Tuesday at 9am work?

Results aren't guaranteed and nobody honest can promise a number before the first emails go out. A few things decide how a campaign does.
The first few weeks show how the market responds. The list and the copy and the offer get sharper from there.
We build and run this campaign for one agency per industry.
This page is a starting point and a strategy we'd happily test ourselves. Working together gives us more context on your agency. That context lets us add better strategies and build better lists and offers and automations for you.
Thirty minutes on your market and how we'd reach it.
